Amarillo College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach engineering courses. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, assessing student learning outcomes, and contributing to the development of curriculum.
Key Responsibilities- Teach assigned courses in engineering, utilizing effective instructional methods and techniques.
- Participate in course and curriculum development, revision, and evaluation.
- Design and implement assessments to measure student learning outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance and academic performance.
- Perform effective teaching activities, including classroom instruction, directing projects, and assisting with student coursework, research, and internships.
- Plan, develop, and present organized classroom instructions and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines.
- Attend briefings on procedures, advising, registration, and general policy.
- Complete appropriate administrative paperwork and performance evaluations in a timely manner.
- Submit college reports and forms in a timely manner.
- Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
- Meet with and advise students either before/after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master's degree in Engineering or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Engineering.
- Previous post-secondary teaching experience is preferred.
- Good oral and written command of the English language and grammar is required.
- Ability to work under stress, work independently and as a team member, and deal with students in a professional manner.
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism at all times, especially when dealing with resistance or hostility, and to provide an exemplary level of customer service to all internal, external customers, vendors, community leaders, etc.
- Ability to teach day and/or evening courses as required.
- Ability to teach off-campus, dual credit, online, and tech-supported courses as required.
This job may operate in a classroom, online, or tech-supported setting. The employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.
