- Policy and Resource Advocacy: Advocate for policies and resources that support effective school leadership, ensuring that principals have the necessary tools and support to succeed.
- Principal Evaluation and Coaching: Coach and evaluate principals on all aspects of the Connecticut School Leadership Standards, providing feedback and coaching to improve leadership practices.
- Resource Utilization: Guide and hold school leaders accountable to effective resource utilization, including instructional resources and budgetary spending, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively.
- Instructional Improvement: Support principals in creating, implementing, evaluating, and adjusting data-informed plans for improving engagement, culture, and climate, and instruction, ensuring that instructional practices are aligned with the district's goals and objectives.
- Education: Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of five years of experience in a school leadership role, preferably as a principal or central office administrator.
- Track Record: Proven track record of improving student achievement and closing achievement gaps.
- Understanding of Standards: Deep understanding of the Principal Supervisor Standards and the ability to use them to guide principal development.
- Instructional Leadership Skills: Strong instructional leadership skills and knowledge of curriculum development.
- Communication and Collaboration Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to Build Trust: Ability to build trust and rapport with diverse stakeholders.
- Reform-Minded Leadership: Reform-minded, innovative thinker and leader who maintains a relentless focus on student learning and well-being.
- Collaborative Leadership: Strong and collaborative leadership with an honest, transparent, and inclusive style that supports outcomes and educational excellence.
- Feedback and Coaching Skills: Proven ability to provide detailed, instructionally focused feedback.
The salary for this position is in accordance with experience level and the salary schedule for the Hartford Principals' and Supervisors' Association (HPSA). The bargaining agreement salary range is $148,258 to $160,853.
