Job Summary

South Weber City is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wildland Fire Management Specialist to join our team. As an Engine Boss, you will be responsible for leading a team of wildland firefighters in suppressing and managing wildland fires. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of wildland firefighters in suppressing and managing wildland fires
  • Develop and implement fire management plans to ensure safe and effective fire suppression
  • Conduct daily inspections of equipment and personnel to ensure readiness and safety
  • Enforce City and Department policies and procedures
  • Accurately complete all required paperwork for deployments and other projects
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • NWCG Incident Qualification Card (Red Card)
  • NWCG Engine Boss Qualified
  • Valid state of Utah driver's license
  • Ability to pass a physical ability test and medical screening
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience as an Engine Boss supervising personnel and equipment
  • Utah Emergency Medical Technician license
  • Utah Advanced Emergency Medical Technician license
  • Utah Paramedic license
Work Environment and Physical Demands

This position requires frequent travel and exposure to extreme weather conditions. The individual must be able to lift and move equipment and/or persons weighing up to 150 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
