Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Firefighter/Paramedic to join our team at North View Fire District. As a Firefighter/Paramedic, you will be responsible for responding to emergency situations, providing medical aid, and engaging in fire suppression and prevention activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to fires and emergencies, operate firefighting and rescue equipment, and provide emergency medical aid.
  • Engage in fire suppression, fire prevention, and emergency preparedness, and participate in public education.
  • Perform checks and maintenance on apparatus and equipment, including daily, weekly, and post-incident checks.
  • Maintain fire station cleanliness and perform general building upkeep.
  • Evaluate and treat patients in emergency situations, provide advanced life support, administer medications, and perform lifesaving procedures.
  • Use medical devices for resuscitation, immobilization, and other advanced medical procedures.
  • Assist and perform extrication on MVC scenes as designated by the incident commander.
  • Clean and perform general maintenance of firefighting equipment and fire station.
  • Respond to hazardous materials incidents at an operations level minimum.
  • Participate in public education programs at the fire station, schools, civic groups, and other locations as requested.
  • Participate in daily physical training and pass annual physical agility tests.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • State of Utah or National Registry Paramedic License.
  • ACLS Provider, PALS Provider, and BLS CPR Provider.
  • State of Utah or IFSTA Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations.
  • State of Utah or IFSTA Firefighter One and Two.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current State of Utah EMS Instructor Certification.
  • ACLS Instructor, PALS Instructor, BLS CPR Instructor.
  • Critical Care Paramedic Certification (Either Flight or Ground).
  • Five Years of Fire/EMS Experience (Experience Requirement Subject to Chief's Discretion).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of elementary mechanics, physics, and chemistry as related to the fire service. Considerable knowledge of the principles of fire science and water hydraulics.

Leadership and management practices related to supervising, reviewing, and educating on EMS care and as a secondary supervisor to the Fire Captain.

Utilization of tools and handling of ropes and equipment; utilization of medical equipment as related to the duties of a Paramedic.

Performance of routine mechanical and maintenance tasks related to both fire and medical equipment.

Establish and maintain good and effective working relationships with other employees; use good communication with patients and other medical personnel.

Understand and follow oral and written instructions; learn new skills in a wide variety of firefighting, EMS, Hazardous Materials, and any other skills required.

Special Qualifications
  • Must be (18) eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be a citizen of the United States of America at the time of application, or provide proof of an appropriate work permit.
  • Must pass physical agility test.
  • Must be able to read and write the English language.
  • Must have the ability to follow verbal and written communication effectively orally and in writing.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Utah Driver's License, by time of employment.
  • Must have a stable driving history without a record of suspension or revocation in any state.
  • Must be eligible for coverage under North View Fire District vehicle and liability insurance.
  • Must not have any felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history within the past seven years. Must be of good moral character and of temperate and industrious habits.
