Job Summary

At Turning Point of Central California, Inc., we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Services Professional to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing direct care services to residents of our program, helping them achieve their treatment goals and reach their full potential.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the accomplishment of treatment plans for residents, under the supervision of the Program Director.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed case recording documentation, including resident behaviors and rule violations.
  • Transport residents to medical appointments and laboratories for tests.
  • Conduct daily living skills sessions and re-socialization activity groups.
  • Attend staff meetings, including weekly supervision meetings with the Program Director.
  • Participate in job-related conferences and in-service trainings, seminars, and practicum.
  • Encourage resident participation in treatment activities and motivate them to develop self-reliance in daily living.
  • Observe resident physical condition and behavior, reporting significant changes to the Program Director.
  • Ensure staffing ratio is maintained by being able to work all shifts upon request.
  • Respond to emergency health situations in an appropriate manner, as defined by emergency first aid training.
Requirements
  • High School diploma and some college units in a social service, healthcare, education, or similar course of study.
  • 6 months prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Meet the minimum age of 21, as per California Health & Safety Code Section 1562.
  • Communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to write acceptable progress reports required for treatment documentation.
  • Work effectively with diverse ethnic, religious, socio-economical, and professional groups.
  • Competently provide direct services for Developmentally Disabled residents of the facility.
  • Understand and apply principles and techniques involved in the care and treatment of individuals or groups of Developmentally Disabled residents.
  • Recognize contraindications, side-effects, and signs of medication complications and report to the Program Director.
  • Analyze potentially dangerous situations accurately and take effective action.
  • Provide input to the Program Director and/or home's behaviorist as relates to the treatment programs for the residents.
  • Understand and follow written and oral directions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Must be certified in emergency first aid procedures prior to working alone with any resident.
  • Basic computer skills in Office 365, Teams, Zoom, and other communication/meeting platforms.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws.
  • Must have less than 3 points on driving record.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, general physical, and TB test.
