Position Overview

The Chief Medical Officer serves as the leading physician responsible for ensuring compliance with the Food and Drug Administration's regulations. This role entails providing medical supervision in alignment with Federal and State laws, particularly the relevant sections of Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations. The CMO monitors the center's medical compliance and may either perform or delegate the responsibilities of laboratory director, technical consultant, or clinical consultant as mandated by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA).

Key Responsibilities

  1. Ensure that CLIA/COLA training and proficiency testing are conducted effectively.
  2. Review and adhere to all CSL Plasma Services policies while maintaining high medical standards.
  3. Provide medical oversight and training to Medical Staff Associates, ensuring their development and compliance.
  4. Conduct regular evaluations of Medical Staff Associates and assist in their certification process.
  5. Participate in quality assurance initiatives and act as a liaison between corporate medical leadership and center staff.
  6. Respond to inquiries regarding donor suitability and conduct thorough interviews with donors.
  7. Maintain confidentiality regarding all medical records and oversee the management of medical supplies and emergency equipment.
  8. Review medical incident reports and abnormal test results, ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
  9. Monitor donor health and safety, particularly in immunization programs.
  10. Stay informed about infectious disease trends and consult with corporate medical directors on donor suitability.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess an MD or DO degree from an accredited institution and maintain an active medical license in the relevant state. A minimum of one year of residency training is required.
