Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Engineer III to join our team at the University of Miami. As a Biomedical Engineer III, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks, including the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of complex biomedical equipment. You will also provide technical guidance to other junior technicians and relevant subordinate staff within the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine tasks, including installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of complex biomedical equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance to other junior technicians and relevant subordinate staff within the department.
  • Maintain accurate medical equipment documentation.
  • Supervise services provided by outside vendors to ensure quality and scope of services are met.
  • Maintain current knowledge of pertinent regulatory agencies and the policies, codes, standards, and regulations that apply to the clinical equipment.
  • Inspect incoming equipment for compliance with codes, standards, and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Order parts and supplies necessary for the servicing of medical equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to other employees in the department.
  • Serve as a reference source for engineering and clinical staff with regards to appropriate procedures for the operation and maintenance of clinical equipment.
  • Use office automation hardware and software and diagnostic service software.
  • Update medical equipment technical library as new versions are available.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in relevant field.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
  • Commitment to the University's core values.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
