About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Vitol. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for supporting meal preparation and dining experience in a professional/corporate setting for approximately 350 people daily.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Exceptional Service: Ensure a friendly and highly professional environment at all times, providing excellent service to employees and coworkers, and enforcing kitchen rules to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Culinary Excellence: Collaborate with the Executive Chef and teammates to prepare, execute, and clean up all meals, meeting deadlines without fail and ensuring lunch service is on time every day.
  • Menu Planning: Design monthly menus that maintain variety and appeal to a diverse audience, considering dietary restrictions and providing alternatives when needed.
  • Inventory Management: Perform daily inventory of items, place orders, receive product, and maintain stock and organization within the kitchen and bistro.
  • Purchasing and Maintenance: Maintain relationships with purveyors, receive invoices, review, and submit for prompt payment, and schedule maintenance and repairs for food and beverage equipment.
  • Food Safety and Hygiene: Adhere to all hygiene and food safety requirements as set forth by the Health Department, maintaining a safe environment and preventing cross-contamination and food spoilage.
  • Record Keeping: Retain all pertinent records for the Vitol Kitchen, including City and County permits, food service requirements, and equipment, service, and food handling records.
  • Special Events: Work with employees to execute special events and celebrations, identifying food and beverage needs, placing orders, and assisting with setup and cleanup.
Requirements
  • Culinary Degree or Experience: Culinary degree or two or more years of progressive experience in a restaurant kitchen or hotel/banquet setting.
  • Culinary Knowledge: Working knowledge of culinary trends, various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and industry standard practices.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for an eight-plus hour shift.
  • Availability: Dependable and capable of working regular hours of 7am - 3pm, Monday - Friday, depending on the menu and needs for the week.
  • Professionalism: Exhibiting a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times.
