Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiovascular Clinical Registered Nurse to join our team at Bryan Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide professional nursing care and medical care prescribed by licensed healthcare providers. Your primary role will be to support a provider in a primary role, coordinating and facilitating patient care and follow-up. You will assist the provider with examinations and procedures, ensuring the medical needs of patients with various cardiac and vascular-related health conditions are met in a professional, confidential, and caring manner.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide professional nursing care and medical care prescribed by licensed healthcare providers.
  2. Support a provider in a primary role, coordinating and facilitating patient care and follow-up.
  3. Assist the provider with examinations and procedures, ensuring the medical needs of patients are met.
  4. Triages patient follow-up, patient teaching, and abnormal test result communication.
  5. Retrieve test results, communicate with the provider, and contact patients regarding abnormal results.
  6. Monitor patient caseload for high-risk patients, compliance with physician orders, and follow-up appointments and referrals.
  7. Triage and respond to calls from patients, pharmacies, hospitals, nursing homes, and other medical offices in a timely manner.
  8. Prepare Electronic Health Records (EHR) for patient visits, ensuring all necessary information is in the chart prior to appointment.
  9. Document patient interactions, orders, results, patient questions/concerns, and medication changes in a timely manner.
  10. Facilitate the flow of patients in accordance with appointment time to avoid delays for the provider and undue waiting for patients.
  11. Conduct new patient history and assessment, reviews established patient history updates, including pain assessment, domestic abuse review, medication reconciliation, and allergy review.
  12. Educate patients and families about tests/procedures, results, medications, nutrition, and other health-related issues.
  13. Assist with rooming, including vital signs, patient history, preparing patients for examinations/procedures, performing EKG, and keeping rooms stocked, clean, and ready for use.
  14. Rooms patients via EHR status indicator for outstate clinics and enters clinical documentation, orders, and results received from clinics, as assigned.
  15. Maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information and provide care in a non-judgmental, compassionate, non-discriminatory manner.
  16. Assist patients with pre-authorizations, release of information requests, FMLA certification, and other tasks as needed.
  17. Respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations, documents as necessary, and manages transfer of care.
  18. Maintain compliance with OSHA and safety plans.
  19. Notify Team Leaders of problems/incidents related to staff or patients in a timely manner.
  20. Participate in meetings related to performance improvement, electronic health record enhancements, and day-to-day operations, as assigned.
  21. Manage work hours, supplies, and other clinical costs in line with fiscal responsibility and budget.
  22. Assist providers in both Lincoln and Outreach Clinic sites, as assigned.
  23. Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field of expertise.
  24. Participate in meetings, committees, and department projects, as assigned.
Requirements
  • Maintains clinical competency as required for the unit, including age-specific competencies relative to patient growth and developmental needs, annual skill competency verification, and mandatory education and competencies.
  • Knowledge of nursing, clinical systems, and the assigned medical specialty.
  • Knowledge of diagnosis allowed for ordering tests/procedures to support appropriate orders and avoid unnecessary denials and delays in care.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to nursing practice, OSHA, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.
  • Skill in critical thinking and able to prioritize competing work demands effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work as a team member, provide direction and oversight to assigned staff, and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to determine effective patient teaching strategies to support patient learning.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.
  • Ability to integrate new work processes and adapt to change.
  • Ability to exercise courtesy, tact, and professionalism.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment relevant to changing patient needs.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Education and Experience

Graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing Program is required. BSN is preferred. Current licensure as an RN in the State of Nebraska is required. Minimum of one (1) year relevant nursing experience is required. Clinic and cardiovascular nursing experience is preferred. Licensure as an RN in the State of Kansas is required for nurses traveling to Kansas clinics and in other states where the nurse practices in the clinic, and/or patients who receive care or instruction by phone, reside.
