Job Title: Structural Analysis Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team at Qualis Corporation. As a key member of our Structural & Mechanical Design and Analysis team, you will be responsible for providing structural analysis support for the Space Launch System (SLS) vehicle development, specifically for the Exploration Upper Stage (EUS) element office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices to conduct structural analysis and design for SLS hardware.
  • Support studies and investigations of concepts related to structural analysis and design.
  • Perform structural analysis for SLS hardware, including large structures, mechanical devices, fasteners, joints, brackets, ground support equipment, special test equipment, and tooling.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines, including design, thermal, materials, and manufacturing, to provide insight and oversight in support of operability, accessibility, and development of SLS EUS hardware.
  • Participate in reviews, meetings, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), boards, working groups, and trade studies related to SLS EUS hardware.
  • Provide integration support for configuration management of project documents and review of contractor documents and engineering change notices.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Typical experience requirements are the equivalent of a PhD with at least 9 years of experience, a Master's with at least 13 years of experience, or BS with at least 15 years of experience.
  • Experience with structural analysis of metallic and composite structures, components, and hardware for strength, stability, fracture, and fatigue using finite element analysis and empirical closed-form techniques.
  • Experience using structural analysis processors and solvers, including PATRAN, NASTRAN, Femap, and Abaqus CAE.
  • Familiarity with NASA standards and MSFC specifications for analysis of flight hardware.
  • Capability of functioning in a multi-disciplinary team of engineers with expertise in thermal design and analysis, materials, aero-sciences, manufacturing, and producibility.
  • Capability of working with external teams, including propulsion systems, reaction control systems, engine systems, avionics, quality control, ground support system, safety, and mission assurance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
