Patient Care Associate

NYC Health + Hospitals is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient Care Associate to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct and indirect patient care, working closely with our nursing staff to ensure the highest level of care for our patients.
Responsibilities:
- Provide vital signs, specimen collection, and basic maternal and newborn care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Support and encourage breastfeeding, and assist with patient care tasks such as peri-care and intake/output measurement.
- Prepare patients for transport, and accompany them to appointments as needed.
- Remove all used materials from patient rooms upon discharge, and inform the head nurse of any rooms that require cleaning.
- Prepare admission rooms, make clean beds and cribs, and stock supplies as needed.
- Maintain a safe and clean treatment room, and check supplies for expiration dates.
- Report any significant conditions that could affect patient safety and well-being to the head nurse.
- Ensure a safe and secure environment, free of hazards, and explain the therapeutic regimen and environment of care to patients and families.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, and completion of a NYS Department of Health prescribed training program for Phlebotomy.
- Successful completion of a healthcare setting-based training program in the performance of electrocardiographs and basic life support procedures, including certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.
