Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement safety protocols for handling chemicals and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations, including the timely completion of OSHA and environmental reports.
- Identify organizational vulnerabilities and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety and environmental compliance.
- Conduct investigations into accidents and incidents to determine root causes and develop preventative measures; share insights with the organization.
- Lead the creation and delivery of training programs and safety drills; assist in onboarding new employees regarding safety practices.
- Support the identification, analysis, and control of workplace hazards through the application of engineering principles.
- Design and enforce occupational safety policies and guidelines to align with best practices and recommend necessary technical adjustments.
- Maintain comprehensive records related to compliance and training; review audit reports and incident investigations to mitigate risks.
- Proactively seek opportunities for continuous improvement and upgrade laboratory technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Monitor the implementation of corrective actions and use incident data to track progress towards safety objectives.
- Address and manage at-risk behaviors and conditions within the workplace.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering, biological sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a technical EH&S role within a manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of chemical safety and regulatory requirements, particularly in handling hazardous materials.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, along with effective risk management capabilities.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across various teams and stakeholders.
- Proficient in using spreadsheets and database software for project planning, analysis, and reporting.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Certifications: CPS, CIH, or CHMM certification is desirable.
