Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively to support three distinct Research teams focused on Microbiology R&D: Skin/Hair Care, General Microbiology, and Oral Care Microbiology.
  • Conduct microbiological efficacy assessments of cleaning products by executing client protocols, utilizing both standard practices and client-specific methodologies.
  • Employ microbiological techniques such as dilution, plating, colony counting, and culturing using various media and preparations.
  • Perform advanced microbiological tests, including Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) assessments, growth curve analysis, and physiological assays for diverse organisms.
  • Identify organisms through standard methods (e.g., gram staining) and advanced techniques such as mass spectrometry (MSID).
  • Assist in the development of new methodologies by testing, validating, and optimizing client-specific approaches.
  • Complete daily tasks/tests and ancillary work (test preparation, data collection, data entry into Electronic Lab Notebook).
  • Address troubleshooting needs and instrumentation issues by escalating to the client as necessary.
  • Ensure timely completion of laboratory work as per client expectations.
  • Accurately record data using the Electronic Lab Notebook system.
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization, including deep cleaning, media ordering, preparation of stock solutions, and proper storage of research materials.
  • Perform daily calibrations of instruments as required; document entries and report any out-of-specification instrumentation to the client.
  • Follow safe waste disposal practices in compliance with site regulations and waste vendor guidelines.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology preferred; related disciplines may be considered.
  • Experience working in a BSL-2 Microbiology laboratory, including culturing bacterial, yeast, and fungal isolates.
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques.
  • Open communication regarding the status of samples, experiments, and instrumentation with team members and clients.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to coordinate efforts across three supporting groups.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities as laboratory capabilities evolve or focus shifts.
  • Quick learner with the ability to work independently in the laboratory.
  • Willingness to collaborate with Bureau Veritas colleagues or client personnel in the lab.
  • Basic computer software proficiency (instrument-related); familiarity with Microsoft Excel is a plus.
