The Presbyterian Home for CNY is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Nursing Operations to join our team. As a key member of our nursing department, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our nursing services, ensuring the highest level of care and quality for our residents.
Main Functions:
- Supervise and Coordinate Nursing Services: Assist in supervising the activities of licensed and non-licensed personnel who provide care and services to residents.
- Develop and Implement Nursing Services: Assist with the development and implementation of nursing services, objectives, policies, and procedures in accordance with Federal and State regulations.
- Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Teams: Participate in resident interdisciplinary care conference meetings as needed.
- Assess Resident Needs: Complete review of pertinent medical information to accurately assess the needs of prospective admissions to the facility.
- Support Medical Staff: Assist Medical Director, Physicians, Podiatrist, Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacist, etc. in rounds as needed.
- Attend In-Service Programs: Attend in-service programs to stay up-to-date on the latest nursing practices and regulations.
- Participate in Unit Manager Meetings: Attend unit manager meetings as scheduled by DNS.
- Assist with Staffing Schedules: Assist with the completion of nursing staffing schedules as needed.
- Weekend Rotation: Participate in weekend rotation for supervisory coverage.
- Facility Audit: Participate in weekly skin round meetings and complete facility audit regarding plan management on assigned units.
- Shift-to-Shift Report: Provide shift-to-shift report to on-coming shift supervisor.
- Evaluate Nursing Systems: Assist the Director of Nursing in the evaluation of nursing systems that ensure consistent delivery of care and maintain and promote resident rights.
- Conduct Nursing Rounds: Conduct nursing rounds on all units several times during the shift.
- Develop and Implement Facility Policies: Assist the Director of Nursing Services in the development, implementation, and evaluation of facility policies, procedures on an annual and on-going basis.
Requirements:
- Education and Qualifications: Registered Professional Nurse currently registered in New York State. Post-graduate study and/or geriatric nursing experience. Supervisory experience, Long Term Care experience progressive of five (5) years or more. Demonstrated participation in continuing education programs. Demonstrated competence in nursing skills. Knowledge of order input and mediation pass with Point Click Care preferred.
- Contacts: Patients/residents, inter-departmental contacts, nursing service personnel, families of patients, friends, and public in general on a daily basis.
- Physical Demands: Walking, sitting, standing, lifting.
- Mental Demands: Multiple decision-making.
- Working Conditions: Usual office conditions with contact to nursing care units with usual accompanying sights and odors.
- Hazards: Exposure to infection.
- Safety: Accountable for implementing assigned responsibilities and activities to attain safety goals and objectives by complying with applicable rules and regulations and performing tasks and supervising others in performing tasks in a safe manner.
