**Job Title:** Histotechnologist - Surgical Pathology Night Shift

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled Histotechnologist to join our team at UW Health University Hospital. As a Histotechnologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis of patients by preparing tissue samples for examination under the microscope.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Prepare tissue samples for examination under the microscope by performing grossing/dissecting of biopsy specimens and embedding tissue in paraffin wax.
  • Conduct microtomy and complete various staining techniques on tissue glass slides.
  • Ensure basic instrument maintenance, monitor reagents, and manage supply inventory and quality control.
  • Review and evaluate test or instrument performance and conduct advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and problem resolution.
  • Coordinate and prioritize workflow to ensure timely testing.
  • Interact daily with pathologists, residents, and both intradepartmental and interdepartmental staff.
  • Be willing to float to floors working with children up to 1 year of age based on competency skills/experience.
  • Adapt to shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on current staffing needs and/or different locations within the organization.

**Requirements:**

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Histotechnologist.
  • Associate degree in laboratory or medical laboratory technology.
  • Two completed references from recent work environment/assignments (supervisor or manager only for work performed in the last two years).

**What We Offer:**

  • Guaranteed hours of 40 hours per week.
  • Nights, 8-hour shifts, Monday - Friday, 11 PM - 7 AM (with some flexibility).
