Job Summary

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Surgical Pathology Fellow to join our team. This one-year non-ACGME certified fellowship provides a comprehensive educational experience designed to develop outstanding diagnostic and leadership skills in surgical pathology.

The fellow will work in our fully subspecialized, academic surgical pathology division, which accessioned approximately 60,000 in-house and over 2,000 extramural surgical pathology cases annually. Our division is staffed by 30 surgical pathologists representing all subspecialties, including renal, pediatric, and transplant pathology.

Responsibilities
  • Perform duties of academic surgical pathologist, including diagnostic interpretation of H&E and ancillary diagnostic tests for both in-house cases and extramural consultations.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary conferences, frozen section, and surgical pathology call coverage.
  • Supervise the gross room and teach residents and medical students at the microscope.
  • Complete at least one quality improvement project, educational initiative, or research project with a subspecialty faculty mentor.
  • Independently sign out 1-2 weeks on each of the core services with faculty backup.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of a certified U.S. based pathology residency program.
  • Unrestricted WI Medical License required by start date.
  • Board eligible or board certified in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology by The American Board of Pathology.
