Resident Advocate Program Volunteer

Are you passionate about advocating for the rights of nursing home residents? AgeSpan, Inc. is seeking a dedicated volunteer to join our Long Term Care Ombudsman Program.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing the quality of life of nursing and rest home residents by advocating for their rights and interests. This includes serving as a link between residents, families, staff, and other stakeholders to resolve resident complaints and concerns.
The role requires excellent communication skills, reliability, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. A commitment to upholding resident rights and promoting dignity in care is essential.
Key Responsibilities- To advocate for the rights and interests of nursing and rest home residents.
- To assess, resolve, and provide information and referral for concerns of residents, families, and the community.
- To complete regular visits to assigned facilities, unless otherwise authorized by the Program Director.
A reliable means of transportation and basic computer skills are required. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in field supervision and complete re-certification training every two years.
Requirements- Complete a volunteer application process.
- Attend certification training presented by the Massachusetts Office of the State Long Term Care Ombudsman.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to program policies.
We estimate the salary for this position to be around $15-20 per hour, based on industry standards and location. However, please note that this is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
