Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Police Services Aide to join our team at the Oakland Housing Authority. As a Police Services Aide, you will provide technical assistance and clerical support to the Police Department, patrol authority-owned buildings, and operate the Police Department's Communication Center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate non-criminal issues and prepare written reports on property deficiencies, property damage, and resident health and safety concerns.
  • Conduct interviews with witnesses and gather evidence to support investigations.
  • Respond to non-hazardous criminal and other complaints from residents and the public via telephone and in person.
  • Issue citations and/or warnings for parking and other violations.
  • Initiate the towing and removal of vehicles from authority property.
  • Attend community meetings and process calls for service via direct authority telephone calls or relayed from 911 emergency services.
  • Input data into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and operate a multi-channel radio system under FCC rules and regulations.
Requirements
  • One year of experience in a police department, serving in a role such as police dispatcher, parking enforcement officer, or police records clerk.
  • A High School Diploma, GED, or recognized equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license with an insurable driving record.
  • US citizenship or the process of obtaining citizenship.
  • No felony convictions.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Bilingual skills in ASL, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, and/or Spanish are a plus.
