About Us

Originating from prior experience in running a contracting business and designing remote-sensing satellites at NASA, Zero is developing tools to automate the design of all-electric home energy upgrades, all while operating remotely. We aim to create a seamless experience for homeowners, enabling them to plan, purchase, and schedule installations with certified local contractors in just minutes.

Your Profile

You should have substantial operational experience in the installation of HVAC systems, management of HVAC projects, and hands-on expertise in designing retrofits, plumbing, and electrical upgrades for residential settings. A profound understanding of residential energy systems and building construction is essential, along with a passion for enhancing the health and energy efficiency of homes. You are self-driven, proactive in problem-solving, and a collaborative team player willing to tackle any necessary tasks. You prefer to create your own role framework rather than follow a pre-defined one. Exceptional communication skills are vital, allowing you to engage confidently with diverse individuals. You are a quick learner who holds yourself to high standards and is deeply committed to addressing climate change through impactful work.

Your Responsibilities

You will act as a subject-matter expert in heat pump installations and related trades, including electrical, plumbing, and insulation. Collaboration with our home electrification advisors will be crucial as they prepare designs and quotes, ensuring accurate project scoping and pricing. You will oversee the successful execution of home electrification projects, taking responsibility for project scope, execution, and closure. Additionally, you will need to comprehend and effectively apply relevant local regulations, including licensing, building codes, and incentive program requirements. Importantly, you will contribute to building a team that transforms the home improvement landscape, empowering homeowners to electrify their residences and assisting contractors in enhancing their businesses.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in an operational capacity managing the installation of residential heat pumps and related energy systems
  • In-depth knowledge of heat pump design, building systems, and HVAC
  • Proven project management experience, ideally overseeing installation processes and collaborating with various stakeholders
  • Demonstrated capability to manage installation processes within a CRM (Hubspot or equivalent)
  • Strong attention to detail coupled with excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed (or able to obtain quickly) in one of the following areas:
    • Plumbing (e.g., State of Colorado Residential Plumber License)
    • Electrical (e.g., State of Colorado Residential Wireman)
    • HVAC (e.g., Denver's Heating and Ventilating Class B Supervisor - Residential Only [F32 - National Standard Residential Mechanical - Class C], or NATE Certification)
  • Experience in negotiating with subcontractors and managing pricing

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated compensation range for this position is between $90,000-$125,000 based on experience, along with bonuses and significant equity opportunities.
