Job Title: IP Trademark Paralegal

Job Summary:

Harvard Resource Solutions LLC is seeking a highly skilled IP Trademark Paralegal to join our team. As a key member of our law firm client in Chicago, you will be responsible for handling U.S. trademark filings and maintenance electronically with the USPTO, including applications, responses, extensions, and renewals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough trademark searches using third-party platforms and common law.
  • Communicate effectively with clients on trademark matters, providing timely and accurate updates.
  • Manage WIPO filings for International Registrations, ensuring seamless coordination with foreign counsel.
  • Prepare ownership and name change documents, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Conduct trademark portfolio due diligence, identifying potential issues and opportunities.
  • Assist with customs registrations and renewals, ensuring timely completion.
  • Estimate costs for new filings, providing accurate and transparent pricing.
  • Support trademark enforcement actions, including oppositions and cease & desist letters.
  • Monitor attorney dockets and manage deadlines, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Record billable hours accurately, maintaining a high level of transparency and accountability.

Requirements:

  • Experience in U.S. and foreign trademark prosecution, with a strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Bachelor's Degree or significant relevant experience, with a strong foundation in intellectual property law.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and adaptable to new software, with a strong ability to learn and master new tools.
  • Skilled in trademark research tools and databases, with a strong understanding of relevant search strategies.
  • Familiarity with PATTSY or equivalent docketing software, with a strong ability to navigate and utilize.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to multitask independently in a fast-paced environment, with a strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines.
  • Proactive problem solver, with discretion for confidential information and a strong ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and strong writing skills, with a strong ability to produce high-quality written content.
