Director of Pediatric Pulmonology, Visiting Associate/Assistant Professor

Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Visiting Associate/Assistant Professor (GFT) / Director of Pediatric Pulmonology. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Pediatric Pulmonology program, providing clinical care, teaching, and research.

Responsibilities:
  • Administrative/Teaching:
    • Supervise the Pediatric Asthma Clinic at UHB (NS41)
    • Director of Pediatric Lung Function Laboratory and Co-Director of Pediatric Exercise Physiology Laboratory
    • Evaluate children referred to the laboratory for procedures, supervise technicians, interpret procedures, and prepare reports for referring physicians
    • Serve as a preceptor for 3rd-year medical students
  • Clinical:
    • Provide up to 5 months of consultation service at University Hospital
    • Conduct 1-2 outpatient sessions per week in the faculty practice, accepting referrals from the departmental general pediatric practice group and outside community physicians for consultation
    • Participate in coverage of the Fiberoptic Bronchoscopy service
    • Clinical responsibilities will also include providing weekend inpatient general pediatrics call two weekends per month
  • Research:
    • Supervise all research activity in the Division
    • Develop and implement clinical research projects
    • Generate peer-reviewed publications and present data at National meetings
    • Supervise medical students who opt to take part in clinical research
Requirements:
  • Board Certified in Pediatrics and Board Certified or eligible in Pediatric Pulmonology, with an academic background in basic or clinical research
  • New York State Medical Licensure
Work Schedule:

Variable Days; Variable Hours

Salary Grade/Rank:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
