Medical Records Imaging Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Records Imaging Specialist to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a key member of our Health Information Management department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of patient documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patient documentation for scanning into electronic medical records systems.
- Operate batch management software and batch scanners to efficiently scan and index documents.
- Monitor work queues to ensure established turnaround times are met for all priority work types.
- Perform quality reviews of scanned documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Rotate to cover HIM document collection or courier duties as needed to maintain efficient department operations.
- High school graduate or equivalent; Associates Degree preferred; or formalized medical record technician training preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in electronic medical record environment or related activities involving production work, use of computer, and familiarity with health information management.
- Current driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
- Thorough knowledge of legal medical record requirements, medical record forms, and content.
- Ability to use peripheral equipment such as bar code scanners, printers, fax machines, photocopiers, and scanners.
- Strong computer skills, including knowledge of EPIC and document management systems.
This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent deadlines and changing priorities. The successful candidate must be able to lift, bend, and push heavy carts filled with medical records. A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required for courier duties.
