Overview

The Texas Oncology Network is seeking a highly skilled Senior Scheduler to support our team at The Medical Center - Main St. location in Houston, Texas. This full-time position will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments and tests in an efficient and timely manner, ensuring seamless communication between patients and medical staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and schedule surgeries with patients, providers, and hospitals
  • Inquire and obtain authorization, pre-certification, and/or pre-determination on scheduled surgical procedures
  • Answer incoming calls, assess callers' needs, and direct them to appropriate personnel
  • Schedule new patients, patient referrals, and returning patients in the computer system according to physician and/or office guidelines
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket amounts at the time of visit
  • Maintain the primary office scheduling template containing all physician meetings, satellite schedules, rounding, and call coverage
  • Arrange for patients to have financial counseling as needed
  • Demonstrate an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect patient and clinic/practice information
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 0-3 years' experience in a medical office setting, preferably with knowledge of medical terminology and coding
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required
Work Environment

The work environment is an office setting, involving contact with patients and the public. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and maintain confidentiality.
