Patient Care Technician

Flexible Day & Night shifts are available.

The Patient Care Technician plays a crucial role in delivering various healthcare services and support to patients under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. This position involves assisting with patient care tasks within the defined scope of practice. The technician does not administer medications or therapies independently and follows established protocols and procedures of Hope Community Resources, Inc. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Patient Support


• Collaborates with licensed personnel to coordinate patient care and unit operations, ensuring timely completion of tasks and responsiveness to patient needs.

• Maintains a safe and organized environment for patient care by keeping patient areas tidy and supporting a clean workspace.

• Delivers designated care to assigned patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse, utilizing acquired skills and adhering to care standards.

• Monitors vital signs and communicates any significant changes to the supervising nurse. Accurately documents findings.

• Tracks intake and output for assigned patients, alerting the supervising nurse to any unusual patterns.

• Records care provided and observes patient responses, ensuring documentation is thorough and precise.

• Assists with the distribution and collection of food and nourishment for patients.

• Aids patients with feeding, excluding enteral feeding tasks.

• Supports patients in daily living activities, including hygiene, mobility, and elimination; promptly reports any changes in patient conditions to the licensed nurse.

• Completes care assignments with a focus on upholding patient rights and safety, including appropriate care for patients with special needs.

• Implements infection control measures while providing patient care.

• Applies knowledge of growth and development to address the specific needs of patients across all age groups.

• Upholds standards that protect patient rights, including confidentiality and ethical considerations, while addressing any patient concerns.

• Engages in personal development activities to enhance skills and knowledge through various learning opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) as mandated by state regulations. Current BLS certification is essential.

Experience: No prior experience required. Preference for candidates with two (2) to three (3) years of experience in a hospital, rehabilitation, or skilled nursing environment.

Skills and Competencies:


• Strong verbal communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and team members across various age groups.

• Proficient in reading and writing English, including basic medical terminology.

• Ability to document accurately on forms provided by licensed staff.

• Critical thinking skills for making informed decisions and solving problems.

• Organizational skills to manage nursing tasks efficiently.

• Interpersonal skills to build rapport and trust with patients and colleagues.

• Adaptability to respond to changing conditions and job requirements.
