The Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Clerk to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will provide clerical support to the Clerk's Office and assist the Senior Supervisor within the assigned unit.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clerical support to the Clerk's Office, including answering and directing incoming telephone calls, utilizing the Juvenile Court case information system to enter and retrieve court-related data, and filing and processing complaints, motions, pleadings, journal entries, etc.
- Assist the Senior Supervisor with new and/or revised procedures, serve as a positive peer mentor for new staff, and provide feedback to the Senior Supervisor regarding additional training needs.
- Perform as the lead trainer for all new staff in assigned units to ensure consistency with training and unit procedures, and assist with providing coverage and resolving work-related issues during the Senior Supervisor's absence.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of three (3) years clerical experience in a legal setting, preferably in a Clerk's Office performing legal services clerk or deputy clerk duties
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with courtroom personnel, other court employees, and the general public
- Proficient in operating iCase and knowledge of Microsoft Word
- Ability to speak Spanish is helpful
The Lead Clerk will work in a fast-paced and potentially stressful environment, with potential exposure to hazardous situations that may occur in the court environment. The employee must be able to tolerate exposure to evidence and testimony that may be disturbing, as well as clients who may potentially be verbally or physically uncooperative.
