Pulmonary Rehabilitation Specialist

As a Pulmonary Rehabilitation Specialist at Brigham & Women's Hospital (BWH), you will play a critical role in the daily operations of our Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program. This includes leading the exercise and education component of the program, working closely with the Pulmonary Rehab Team, and performing administrative duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct exercise sessions with patients, working collaboratively with team members to ensure a comprehensive and effective program.
  • Monitor vital signs, adjust oxygen levels as needed, and make informed decisions regarding treatment sessions.
  • Document patient information accurately and concisely in the medical record.
  • Develop and maintain patient teaching materials and protocols for the Pulmonary Rehab Program.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest pulmonary rehabilitation information through ongoing education and professional development.
  • Exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills to address complex situations and make informed decisions.
Qualifications:
  • A.S./B.S. in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
  • Registration (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • One year of clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Strong mechanical and analytical skills to troubleshoot and respond to medical emergencies.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities.
Working Conditions:
  • Primarily works in an outpatient care area, with occasional exposure to cleaning agents and communicable diseases.
