Job Description

**Staff Accountant Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our team at First Meridian Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing and reconciling accounts, preparing documentation for auditors, and assisting with period-end close, payroll, and other day-to-day accounting tasks.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Reviews and reconciles liability and asset balance sheet accounts.
  • Reviews and reconciles weekly accrual entries for utilities, rent, and other expenses.
  • Maintains general ledger accounts and account structure, including the creation of new accounts.
  • Maintains and updates financial records and reports as needed.
  • Interacts with operations personnel to resolve questions around financial transactions.
  • Prepares and posts general ledger adjustments according to GAAP guidelines.
  • Assists in providing documentation and support for the annual audit.

**Requirements:**

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Self-starter and eager to learn, own the process, have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and thrive well under pressure.

**Education and Experience:**

  • Bachelor of Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years experience in general ledger accounting processes, including revenue posting, account reconciliations, and month-end closing.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office programs and intermediate user of Excel.

**Work Environment and Physical Requirements:**

  • Normal office environment with standard lighting and average noise levels.
  • May require occasional weekend or holiday work.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at desk working on a computer.
  • Regular/repetitive use of hands and fingers to operate computer components (e.g., keyboard, mouse, etc.).
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds, bend, reach, and squat.

**Salary Range:** $60-70K
