Job Summary

The Maintenance Manager will oversee and manage scheduling, dispatching, administrative operations, and field oversight of skilled craft personnel. This role requires a thorough understanding of skill sets, tasks, materials, and tools of each craft type. The candidate will track and coordinate required training for all craft personnel, work as part of a team in a rapidly changing environment, and help develop processes for the effective deployment of craft to maximize efficiency and productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, direction, and management of a team of subordinate Superintendents and, through them, up to sixty (60) specialist craft personnel.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to create a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Uphold high standards of quality in all planning and work control activities.
  • Create an environment where open and honest communication is encouraged and practiced.
  • Empower team members by delegating responsibilities and providing them with the authority and resources needed to succeed.
  • Evaluate existing procedures and job sequencing to verify that resulting work will ensure safety and economy consistent with government and company requirements; identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Implement lessons learned to enhance future performance and results.
  • Concurrently manage multiple projects at multiple locations across the site using union craft with multiple disciplines.
  • Effectively plan and resource load an integrated schedule to accomplish work effectively and efficiently.
  • Improve organizational culture to ensure that all work activities are appropriately scoped, analyzed for hazards, comprehensively planned to eliminate or mitigate those hazards, effectively performed by trained employees, and performed safely and correctly.
  • Track, coordinate, and schedule subordinate employees for various training assignments.
  • Maintain logs of all company-owned heavy equipment and tools, including tracking preventive maintenance schedules.
Requirements
  • Proven and demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities with a history of demonstrated ability to lead others in high-demand situations, quickly changing environments.
  • Experience planning/coordinating personnel and equipment to support multiple projects at different project locations.
  • Ability to hold clear, concise, and thorough pre-job briefings with subordinate personnel.
  • Thorough knowledge of unique access, PPE, accountability, and safety restrictions throughout the site.
  • Ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team of skilled trades with an emphasis on safety compliance, production, risk mitigation, and schedule.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (e.g., address concerns and provide updates regularly to keep team members informed and engaged).
  • Ability to motivate and inspire action and create a positive environment where people can excel.
  • Ability to develop and lead large-sized projects, including defining scope, objectives, and methods; resource planning; integrating into a T-week process.
  • Ability to train and mentor more junior staff.
  • Can be viewed as an expert within a specialty and as highly competent within the broad discipline, both internally and externally.
  • Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability, and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
  • Strongly committed to team building and staff development.
  • A high level of dedication to uphold company stop/pause work authority and apply it when necessary, in all situations.
  • Experience identifying project safety issues and associated controls.
  • Thorough understanding of integrated work control practices.
  • Experience managing, tracking, and executing preventive and corrective maintenance on a fleet of heavy equipment and tools.
Education and Experience Required

Bachelor of Science degree and at least 7 years of relative experience. Experience should include a minimum of 3 years of supervisory responsibility. However, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position's duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.

Education Equivalency: 2 years of relevant experience for 1 year of college.

Business Associations: Interacts frequently with internal personnel and outside representatives at various levels. Participates and presents at meetings with internal and external representatives. Interaction typically concerns resolution of operational and scheduling issues.

Impact: Decisions have an impact on work processes and outcomes. Erroneous decisions or recommendations or failure to complete assignments normally result in serious delays and considerable expenditures of additional time, human resources, and funds.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Work will be performed both in an office environment and in the field. Field hazards include heat and cold stress, noise, slips/trips/falls, etc. Only electrical hazards and other minor potential hazards normally found in an office environment are expected while work is performed in an office. Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for safely performing activities in a field environment.

Safety, Security, and Quality: While working to achieve N3B LLCC objectives, the Maintenance Manager will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner to include protecting the confidentiality and integrity of Personally Identifiable Information (PII). This role will maintain required safety, security, and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security, and quality an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
