We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Recovery Specialist to join our team at Sound Community Services, Inc. (SCSI). As a key member of our Residential- Jason Hyatt Center (Young Adults) department, you will play a vital role in providing direct oversight and support services to chronically mentally disabled and/or co-occurring clients making the transition from institutional care to independent living.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide daily oversight to all residents involved in the program, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Monitor residents' administering medications as scheduled and complete daily documentation as required by the program.
- Facilitate monthly activities and groups based on life skills assessments, promoting residents' independence and self-sufficiency.
- Assist residents in developing daily living skills, such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, transportation, budgeting, personal hygiene, and sex education.
- Report all changes in behavior or mental state to appropriate team members and complete active discharge planning with residents as needed.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques and other strategies to enhance residents' success in recovery.
- Provide transportation to appointments or scheduled activities and participate in all safety drills.
- Manage caseload daily, including Positive Rewards, activities, mentoring, d/c planning notes, and other ADL skills.
- High School diploma (or equivalent) required; a degree or other higher education preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of behavioral health/human services related experience required.
- Previous experience working with individuals 18 to 25 years old who have a mental health and/or substance use diagnosis is preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
- Must be competent user of technology, including e-mail, agency intranet, and the electronic client record.
- Current, valid driver's license required.
- Candidate must be CPR/First Aid certified or eligible.
- Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and climb stairs.
- Regularly required to walk, talk, and/or hear.
- Speaking and hearing ability should be sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes.
- Vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include the ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally required to stand and climb or balance.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
