Position Overview

Full Time Day Shift

Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, with variable shifts and assigned on-call duties.

Role Summary:

The Surgical Technologist is responsible for performing scrub duties and assisting in the comprehensive care of surgical patients throughout the surgical process.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ensure a safe, efficient, and supportive environment for surgical patients.
2. Utilize knowledge of normal and pathological anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to tailor patient care.
3. Implement aseptic techniques to deliver optimal patient care while respecting privacy and confidentiality.
4. Prepare and understand the specific applications of all surgical equipment and supplies, demonstrating proficiency in the procedural steps and instrument handling.
5. Anticipate the surgeon's needs to facilitate the procedure, minimizing patient exposure to surgical and anesthetic stress.
6. Enhance organizational skills and assist the surgeon in optimizing time, motion, and resources.
7. Recognize emergency situations and apply established protocols calmly and effectively.
8. Complete a minimum of 10 hours of continuing education annually and maintain certification. Participate in preceptor training and provide one-on-one instruction for students and staff in the scrub role.
9. Engage in training sessions for other staff members regarding the surgical technologist role.
10. Operate efficiently and professionally in all aspects of surgical care, emphasizing teamwork and cooperation.
11. Adhere to all compliance responsibilities associated with the position.
12. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

High School Graduate or Equivalent

Additional Information:

Required: Certification as a Surgical Technologist.
Minimum Experience: One year of relevant experience.
Desired: Experience in a surgical setting.

Working Conditions:

Manual: Significant manual skills and dexterity required.
Occupational: Exposure to significant occupational risks.
Physical Effort: Very heavy physical effort; may require exerting up to 50 lbs. of force.
Physical Environment: Frequent exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and biological materials.

Credentials: Associate Surgical Technologist Certification.
