Job Title: Investigator VI

Join the Health and Human Services Commission as an Investigator VI and contribute to the protection of residents' health and safety in Texas long-term care facilities.

Job Summary

As an Investigator VI, you will conduct on-site inspections and investigations to assess compliance with state and federal laws and rules. You will work collaboratively with a team of public servants to ensure the well-being of residents in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and day activities and health services sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct on-site inspections and investigations to determine compliance with federal and state health and safety regulations.
  • Communicate clearly and accurately with facility staff, residents, and other stakeholders to provide information, answer inquiries, and address issues.
  • Complete inspection or survey reports detailing deficiencies, recommended remedies, and narrative to support regulatory findings.
  • Visit facilities to verify correction of previously cited regulatory violations.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of documents prepared by others.
  • Testify at hearings or in court proceedings to provide information regarding policy/procedures, history, findings, or activities.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have a strong understanding of federal and state health and safety regulations and be able to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. You must also be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be able to travel to different facilities within a region.

The ideal candidate will have a background in a related field, such as healthcare or social services, and have experience working in a regulatory or compliance role. You must also be able to obtain Surveyor Minimum Qualification within the first year of employment.
