Job Title: Truss Design Engineer

Eagle Metal Products is seeking a skilled Truss Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and reviewing truss designs for our customers nationwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering review and approval for MPC wood truss designs and repairs.
  • Oversee the design and project work of Engineering Technicians.
  • Design roof and floor trusses for single-family, multi-family, and commercial projects.
  • Generate clear and accurate working plans and detail layout drawings.
  • Provide structural design and drawing of truss repairs using company and/or AutoCAD software.
  • Size and specify hangers for truss-to-truss connections.
  • Work closely with the Director of Engineering Services to ensure timely completion of departmental work.
  • Contact outside sources to resolve questions or concerns in the design and review process.
  • Assist with technical questions regarding trusses and framing.
  • Communicate effectively with peer/management.
  • Participate in the implementation and maintenance of engineering processes, creating and maintaining technical data, and testing and development of truss design software.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering licensing in at least one state required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Architectural Engineering required.
  • Previous MPC wood truss design and engineering experience preferred but not required.
  • Understand basic engineering and design concepts.
  • Ability to quickly become proficient in design software.
  • Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret construction documents.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Ability to identify and provide solutions to problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to deal courteously with customers, co-workers, and construction personnel.
