Responsibilities
  1. Provide high-quality clinical and administrative services to ensure timely care of patients.
  2. Abide by the Dartmouth Health Bylaws for the Professional Staff and Code of Conduct.
  3. Review patient records and medical history to determine appropriate diagnosis and treatment plans.
  4. Determine and order screening and diagnostic tests and studies as necessary.
  5. Obtain informed consent for treatment, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures and studies.
  6. Interpret and evaluate test and study results.
  7. Prescribe medications, treatments, and medical devices within the scope of practice and applicable rules and regulations.
  8. Initiate referrals to other providers as needed.
  9. Initiate admission/discharge of patients, if applicable.
  10. Provide consultation, education, and counseling regarding the management of acute and chronic illnesses and injuries.
  11. Encourage behavioral change and assist with self-management skills to improve overall health.
  12. Complete documentation in a timely manner.
  13. Provide patient-centered care.
  14. Ensure patient confidentiality and informed consent.
  15. Supervise Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) as directed.
  16. Participate in continuing medical education (CME) and quality and patient safety initiatives.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Advanced clinical degree (MD or DO)
  • Postgraduate training in a residency program
  • Required Licensure/Certifications
  • Vermont Medical License
  • Current or eligible for ABMS Board Certification (to be obtained within 5 years)
  • Active hospital staff membership
