About the Position

Solano County is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health Education Specialist to join our team in the Chronic Disease Prevention Program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion and education programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement health education programs to promote healthy behaviors and prevent chronic diseases.
  • Collaborate with community-based organizations, schools, and advisory boards to provide training and technical assistance.
  • Engage with diverse populations to promote community planning and enrollment in health programs.
  • Assess chronic disease needs of the community and prepare progress reports.
  • Identify opportunities for new partnerships to reach the goals of the work plan.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in health education, public health, education, health science, sociology, psychology, or a related field.
  • At least three college-level courses in public health or health education.
  • One year of full-time, paid experience in health promotion and education activities.
  • Certification as a Health Education Specialist (CHES) or a Master's degree in Public Health.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish, Tagalog, or Vietnamese.
  • Experience working with community-based organizations, schools, and advisory boards.
