Role Responsibilities:

The SMT Operator is responsible for the setup and operation of surface mount technology machinery, ensuring safe and efficient processes. This role encompasses a variety of electro-mechanical assembly tasks and involves conducting quality inspections to guarantee that standards are met or exceeded.

The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong commitment to continuous improvement and possess a proactive, winning mindset. They will demonstrate effective collaboration and teamwork, with a dedicated focus on customer satisfaction and quality assurance. This individual will also showcase disciplined execution while adhering to time-sensitive objectives.

Key Duties Include:

  • Adhere to all operational guidelines to meet quality and production targets.
  • Manage PCB loading/unloading, transfer conveyors, screen printing, pick and place machinery, and reflow ovens.
  • Perform setups and teardowns of component feeders, matrix trays, and hand-placed components.
  • Document operating parameters and conduct operator-level preventative maintenance, including routine cleaning of machinery and surrounding SMT production areas (5S).
  • Understand IPC specifications related to SMT assembly.

Additional Responsibilities and Physical Requirements:

  • Provide assistance in the production area as required.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods; good hand-eye coordination is essential. Occasional lifting may be required, not exceeding 30 pounds.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 1-3 years of experience operating SMT equipment; familiarity with Juki pick and place machinery is advantageous.
  • IPC 610 certification is preferred.
  • Associate's degree, relevant military experience, vocational education, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Basic mathematical skills are essential.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and follow detailed instructions.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
