Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Plant Operator to join our team at the City of Wildwood, FL. As a key member of our Utilities Department, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of our wastewater treatment plant facilities and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and adjust the performance of all equipment, gauges, and charts in the wastewater treatment plant, recording statistical data and maintaining accurate records.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair malfunctions at the wastewater treatment plant, including gauges, pumps, filters, and other controls and equipment.
  • Collect and analyze water samples to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Perform quality control tests on lab equipment and lab analyses, evaluating procedures and results for accuracy.
  • Train and mentor lesser-skilled wastewater treatment plant operators on plant operational procedures, sampling, and maintenance operations.
Requirements
  • Valid State of Florida Driver's License or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • State of Florida Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's License - Class A.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License Class B (CDL B).
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two (2) years technical training in biology, environmental science, chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a wastewater utility or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
