Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse Specialist-F/C Ops to join our team at the North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center in Gainesville, FL. As a Registered Nurse Specialist-F/C Ops, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to residents in a forensic facility or institution.

Key Responsibilities:

- Administer medications, bloodwork, IVs, and related procedures.
- Monitor or supervise non-licensed personnel in monitoring blood pressures, temperatures, pulses, and respiration.
- Administer or supervise the administering of treatment orders for salves, bandages, enemas, urinalysis, preparation for x-rays, and related procedures.
- Provide appropriate progress reports on residents.
- Assist the medical physician during sick calls, during physical examinations, as needed.
- Provide emergency nursing care and examination of injuries.

Requirements:

- Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code and two years of professional nursing experience, including one year of professional experience in a specialty field as determined by the employing agency.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in nursing or a related field can substitute for one year of the required general professional nursing experience.
- A master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, nursing education, public health, or a related field can substitute for two years of the required general professional nursing experience.

Work Environment:

This position requires lifting, pulling, and squatting. Duties of this position require the incumbent to be knowledgeable of and utilize the principles of Total Quality Management. Nursing will provide guidance in the care and treatment of residents. This is a high-level position within the nursing field and possesses a high degree of nursing knowledge and ability with responsibility for nursing care within the unit and serves as a nursing resource to the treatment team.

Physical Agility Requirements:

- Must be able to ambulate up and down a stairwell.
- Must be able to assist with evacuation of persons served during an emergency situation.
- Must have normal vision and hearing, including use of corrective devices.
- Must be able to work with or around cleaning chemicals and supplies.
- Must be able to do repetitive movements with arms, hands, neck, and head.
- Must be able to demonstrate competency, as appropriate, in all areas of training, some of which requires physical activity such as CPR and MANDT.
- Must be able to bend, twist, turn, kneel, stoop, squat, push, pull, lift, and walk extended distances.
- Must be able to physically operate all equipment necessary to do job tasks.
- Must be able to lift and carry 20 pounds.
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for one hour without a break.
- Must be able to work 16 hour shifts on occasion.
- Must be able to remain alert while on duty.
