**Job Overview:**

We are seeking a skilled Molecular Biology Specialist to join our team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In this role, you will contribute to the development of clinically-relevant solutions to gastrointestinal and vaginal probiotic delivery systems.

The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field, with experience in high-throughput screening, DNA isolation, plasmid cloning, and DNA sequencing. Additionally, proficiency in pipetting, serial dilutions, and aseptic technique is essential.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining and updating chemical inventory, ordering materials, and performing laboratory upkeep. You will also train student employees and temporary staff on laboratory protocols and procedures.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Contribute to high-throughput screening, DNA isolation, plasmid cloning, and DNA sequencing projects.

  • Ensure a safe work environment by communicating and interpreting lab policies.

**Essential Qualifications:**

  • Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, biology, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, microbiology, or pharmacology/toxicology.
  • At least two years of experience in a molecular biology or biochemistry lab (co-op and internship experience included).
  • Proficiency in pipetting, serial dilutions, and aseptic technique.
  • Experience with DNA isolation, plasmid cloning, and DNA sequencing.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.

**Compensation:** $53,000 - $55,000 per year.
