**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to join our multidisciplinary team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. As a key member of our lab, you will assist in developing clinically-relevant solutions to gastrointestinal and vaginal probiotic delivery systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field, with experience in high-throughput screening, DNA isolation, plasmid cloning, and DNA sequencing. Proficiency in pipetting, serial dilutions, and aseptic technique is also required.

In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in laboratory upkeep, maintaining and updating chemical inventory, ordering materials, and training student employees and temporary staff. You will also communicate and interpret lab policies, ensuring a safe work environment.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Assist in high-throughput screening, DNA isolation, plasmid cloning, and DNA sequencing.
  • Maintain and update chemical inventory, order materials, and perform laboratory upkeep.
  • Train student employees and temporary staff on laboratory protocols and procedures.
  • Communicate and interpret lab policies, ensuring a safe work environment.

**Requirements:**

  • Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, biology, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, microbiology, or pharmacology/toxicology.
  • At least two years of experience in a molecular biology or biochemistry lab (co-op and internship experience included).
  • Proficiency in pipetting, serial dilutions, and aseptic technique.
  • Experience with DNA isolation, plasmid cloning, and DNA sequencing.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.

**Estimated Salary:** $53,000 - $55,000 per year.
