Position Summary

The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate completion of financial statements for their assigned portfolio. This role involves a thorough examination of monthly financial reports and the general ledger, as well as reviewing daily transactions to guarantee compliance with both internal and external standards. The Senior Accountant will also collaborate with Property Management teams in the preparation of Annual Budgets and Operating Expense (CAM) Reconciliations.

This position entails managing the financials for two premium office towers located in a prime area, necessitating an on-site presence to support the property management team effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate internal and external financial reports for a designated portfolio/property.
  • Collaborate with Property Management to analyze the financial performance of projects.
  • Assist in the budgeting process and review expense reconciliations with minimal guidance.
  • Prepare regular and ad hoc financial reports and analyses.
  • Act as a customer service leader for internal and external stakeholders, addressing complex issues as needed.
  • Provide mentorship and share expertise with team members.
Essential Duties
  • Compile monthly financial statement packages for clients, including journal entries, fixed asset depreciation, and comprehensive reconciliations.
  • Ensure adherence to internal and external reporting timelines.
  • Maintain frequent communication with the property management team and Property Manager(s).
  • Engage with clients on various issues, escalating advanced matters to supervisors.
  • Prepare and file Sales & Use Tax returns as required.
  • Oversee cash management for each project/property, ensuring timely payments for utilities, taxes, and distributions.
  • Review and process vendor invoices as necessary.
  • Assist in transitioning project assignments as directed.
  • Ensure compliance with SOC I standards.
  • Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5 - 8 years of relevant accounting/reporting experience.
  • Experience in the real estate sector is preferred.
  • Familiarity with budget creation and CAM reconciliation is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills appropriate to experience level.
  • Intermediate knowledge of accounting principles and their application.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and team members.
  • Self-motivated with the capacity to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook; experience with Yardi and/or MRI is a plus.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required.
  • Additional coursework is a plus.
