About the Position

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team at the Clinton Hill Community & Early Childhood Center. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational, social, and emotional growth of our students with diverse needs.

**Job Description:**

The Special Education Paraprofessional will assist students with disabilities, promote their educational and social growth, and support the teaching staff in developing and implementing behavioral strategies. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work collaboratively as part of a team, and have previous experience working with students with diverse needs and abilities.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Assist students with physical needs, including feeding, toileting, lifting, and mobility.
  • Provide step-by-step directions and hand-over-hand assistance to aid in getting students engaged in planned activities.
  • Encourage and/or model initiation of play with peers during choice time and while on the playground.

**Requirements:**

  • Associate's degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., special education, child development, or a related field).
  • Previous experience working with students with diverse needs and abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
