Position Overview

Role Summary:
The Nurse Anesthetist is responsible for administering anesthesia to patients undergoing various medical procedures, including surgical, obstetrical, and diagnostic interventions, utilizing general, regional, or monitored anesthesia techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments of patients, ensuring timely evaluations that include comprehensive medical histories, physical examinations, and the formulation of individualized anesthesia care plans.
  • Document all assessments and care plans meticulously, ensuring clear communication of risks and benefits to patients and their families.
  • Assemble necessary equipment and medications, adhering to departmental quality metrics related to efficiency and quality improvement.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through participation in educational opportunities and departmental committees, contributing to the learning environment for fellow healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives, identifying areas for enhancement, implementing strategies to improve patient outcomes, and assisting in data collection for quality assurance activities.
  • Maintain accurate and legible anesthesia records and reports, ensuring compliance with institutional standards.
  • Administer anesthesia safely, following established protocols, monitoring patient responses, and adjusting care as necessary, while ensuring a secure environment throughout the procedure.

Additional Information:
Educational Requirements:
Completion of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program recognized by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
Licensure/Certification:
Must hold a valid license as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in the state of North Carolina, with board certification as mandated by the department.
Experience:
No prior experience is necessary for this role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong clinical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
