Role Summary:
The Nurse Anesthetist is responsible for administering anesthesia to patients undergoing various medical procedures, including surgical, obstetrical, and diagnostic interventions, utilizing general, regional, or monitored anesthesia techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts thorough pre-operative assessments, including patient history and physical examination, to develop a comprehensive anesthesia care plan.
- Documents assessments and plans meticulously, ensuring clear communication of care, associated risks, and benefits to patients and their families.
- Assembles necessary equipment and medications, adhering to departmental quality metrics for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Engages in ongoing professional development through continuing education and participation in institutional committees, enhancing the clinical learning environment for peers.
- Implements performance improvement initiatives, identifying areas for enhancement in patient outcomes and contributing to data collection efforts.
- Maintains accurate anesthesia records and reports, ensuring compliance with established standards of care.
- Administers anesthesia safely, following established protocols, and monitors patient conditions throughout the procedure.
Additional Information:
Educational Requirements:
Completion of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program recognized by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
Licensure/Certification:
Must hold a valid license as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in the state of North Carolina, with board certification as mandated by the department.
Experience:
No prior experience is necessary for this role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong clinical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
