Job Summary

The Clinical Bed Management Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating bed assignments and utilization, including admissions, transfers, and discharges within a specialty area. This role requires strong communication skills, as the coordinator will need to interact with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate with physicians and nurses regarding emergency and direct admissions based on bed availability, treatment plan, and admission criteria;
  • Collect, analyze, evaluate, and summarize data from referring hospitals, attending physicians, referring physicians, and clinics regarding bed utilization;
  • Ensure compliance with standards related to pending discharges for current and following day in coordination with case managers;
  • Initiate elective pre-certification and coordinate urgent/emergent admission authorization;
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Requirements

  • A general educational background normally equivalent to a high school education;
  • Four years of clinical, technical, or paraprofessional experience in a direct patient care setting;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
