Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the Information Systems Analyst will be to support the Background Check Center (BCC) in delivering exceptional customer service and managing the processing of background checks. This role involves observing operational workflows and collecting data related to practices and procedures to evaluate service delivery and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

The incumbent will be responsible for addressing inquiries related to software support and will act as a liaison between the Division, Information Resources Management (IRM), and the software vendor. The role requires troubleshooting issues faced by state-approved BCC users and addressing critical concerns effectively. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is essential for generating reports and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management, technical personnel, and contracted staff to identify and resolve system errors, while scheduling system enhancements, testing, and implementation; initiate maintenance requests and provide data requirements to technical teams throughout project phases.
  • Educate staff and system users on various systems and modifications; assess competency of those trained and determine access levels for staff and customers.
  • Oversee and participate in the testing of new or modified software enhancements by creating test data, analyzing system performance, and ensuring applications meet user requirements.
  • Recommend and maintain educational resources and training programs for information systems, including guidelines and documentation.
  • Serve as a liaison between technical teams, contractors, vendors, and agency staff, keeping users informed about system operations, issues, updates, and new features.
  • May supervise technical support personnel.
  • Assist in maintaining system security by managing user access codes and ensuring authorized access to information.

Qualifications

Requirements for Information Systems Analyst
Candidates must possess education, training, and/or experience demonstrating proficiency in the following areas:

  • A minimum of six months of experience in functional support of information systems, including planning for informational needs, developing documentation, and participating in the testing of software enhancements.
  • Knowledge of delivering training or educational programs.
  • Familiarity with database management principles and systems development lifecycle methodologies.
  • Experience in conducting needs and requirements analysis for information systems.
