We are seeking a highly qualified Lecturer in Psychology to join our team at the University of California, San Diego. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the Department of Psychology, on a temporary basis, as needed. The position is in-person and classes will be held on the UC San Diego campus.
Responsibilities
The Lecturer will be responsible for the effective instruction of students, teaching classes in accordance with course objectives and published schedules, advising students on academic matters, and maintaining an active interest in the advances/current thinking in their subject area. Additional duties include managing Teaching Assistants, holding office hours, assigning grades, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and maintaining a course website. Those teaching large courses are expected to work with, meet with, and mentor graduate student Teaching Assistants.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. (or equivalent doctoral degree) in Psychology or a closely related field at the time of appointment. Prior teaching, research, or practice experience relevant to the particular course(s) to which they are applying to teach is also required. Candidates with prior college-level teaching experience, experience managing large classrooms, and positive teaching evaluations are preferred.
