Job Overview:

Under the guidance of the Senior Director of Risk Services, this role is pivotal in delivering advisory services to LA Rims member districts across various domains including risk assessment, risk oversight, risk transfer strategies, safety protocols, loss mitigation, and prevention techniques. Leveraging expertise in these fields and possessing a comprehensive understanding of insurance and coverage matters, the Consultant will support members in recognizing vulnerabilities, monitoring programs, determining coverage, reviewing contracts, and developing and implementing services and initiatives aimed at minimizing risks for members and their stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk Services Consulting:

  • Engage with key district personnel regularly to assess needs and provide guidance.
  • Advise members on safety measures, loss prevention strategies, risk management, and training tailored to educational operations.
  • Review contracts upon request to offer insights on insurance and indemnification clauses.
  • Provide expertise on general inquiries related to liability, property, workers' compensation, and cyber insurance programs.
  • Assist members in executing risk control measures as identified by external evaluators.
  • Develop comprehensive Risk Action Plans to facilitate loss-driven risk services and track the achievement of members' risk management goals.
  • Analyze member loss data and formulate strategies to address underlying issues.
  • Research regulatory standards as necessary to guide members on risk management and loss prevention matters.
  • Create informative content for LA Rims Risk Alerts, Guidelines, and other publications.
  • Support members in accessing information regarding LA Rims training initiatives.

Delivery of Risk Control Services:

  • In collaboration with LA Rims members, identify optimal strategies for loss reduction and allocate necessary resources for effective service delivery.
  • Oversee and evaluate all contracted services to ensure precision, quality, timeliness, and member satisfaction.
  • Scrutinize charges for contracted services to confirm compliance with agreed rates.
  • Provide direct oversight of assigned ancillary programs.

Communication and Customer Service:

  • Deliver prompt and professional responses to member inquiries through various communication channels.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to track member interactions and service utilization.
  • Collaborate with fellow risk service consultants to enhance program offerings.
  • Assist in preparing reports for management as required.
  • Engage in professional development activities related to risk control.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in a relevant field related to risk management or a discipline likely to contribute to success in this role is essential, along with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in risk management or loss prevention. A master's degree and/or additional professional certifications are highly advantageous. Experience with public entities, insurance, risk management, or risk pooling is also beneficial.
