About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at California Retina Consultants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome and establish rapport with patients, ensuring a positive and comfortable experience.
  • Initiate patient evaluation and accurately document the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, current ocular and general medications, and all other pertinent ocular findings in accordance with compliance guidelines.
  • Inform and educate patients on the purpose of tests being performed and how they will be affected during those tests.
  • Perform pre-exam testing, including visual acuity assessment, confrontational visual field testing, assess extraocular muscles, pupillary evaluation, tonometry, pupillary dilation, Optical Coherence Tomography, and other patient services as requested by the physician.
  • Assist in the efficient movement of patients through the clinic flow.
  • Have a working knowledge of eye terminology, anatomy, pathologies, and ocular pharmacology.
  • Carry out job responsibilities in an ethical, effective, and professional manner.
  • Thoroughly understand and follow proper triage protocol.
  • Perform opening and closing duties on clinic days.
  • Ensure daily cleaning and stocking of each exam room with necessary supplies.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for patients, patient's family, and clinical personnel.
Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of basic eye care.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • One or more years in a customer service type role.
  • Able to travel for work.
