Job Summary:

As a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) RN, you will play a critical role in providing timely, compassionate, and patient-centered care to victims of sexual assault.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality medical care to patients who report sexual assault, including evaluation, treatment, referral, and follow-up.
  • Ensure the quality of collection, documentation, preservation, and custody of forensic evidence by utilizing a trained New York Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner to perform the sexual assault medical forensic exam.
  • Communicate with law enforcement and other stakeholders as needed to ensure effective collaboration and support for victims.
  • Provide expert testimony when needed, if the patient chooses to report the crime to law enforcement.
  • Improve and standardize data regarding the incidence of sexual assault victims seeking treatment in hospital emergency departments.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as a RN.
  • Current RN License in State of New York.
  • DOH-Certified SAFE Training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to establish effective rapport with others.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Word, Excel.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Language Requirements:

Must be able to speak, read, write, and follow instructions in English.
