Job Summary:
St Mary's Healthcare Amsterdam is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate RN SAFE Certified Healthcare Professional to join our team. As a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) RN, you will play a critical role in providing timely, compassionate, and patient-centered care to victims of sexual assault.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide quality medical care to patients who report sexual assault, including evaluation, treatment, referral, and follow-up.
- Ensure the quality of collection, documentation, preservation, and custody of forensic evidence by utilizing a trained New York Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner to perform the sexual assault medical forensic exam.
- Communicate with law enforcement and other stakeholders as needed to ensure effective collaboration and support for victims.
- Provide expert testimony when needed, if the patient chooses to report the crime to law enforcement.
- Improve and standardize data regarding the incidence of sexual assault victims seeking treatment in hospital emergency departments.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as a RN.
- Current RN License in State of New York.
- DOH-Certified SAFE Training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to establish effective rapport with others.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Word, Excel.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Language Requirements:
Must be able to speak, read, write, and follow instructions in English.
