Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Packaging Engineer to join our team at Keurig Dr Pepper Inc. As a Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, testing, and commercialization of new or existing packaging solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of packaging materials, processes, and equipment, as well as excellent communication and project management skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine packaging specifications for our portfolio of products, including PET containers, cans, glass, closures, thermoformed containers, paperboard, corrugate, and flexibles.
  • Validate and lead the execution of new materials for manufacturing scale-up, ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, test, and document test procedures and success criteria for packaging materials and processes.
  • Conduct lab, pilot, and scale-up tests, as well as factory acceptance tests, to ensure packaging meets performance and quality standards.
  • Determine quality requirements and support adherence to specifications, ensuring packaging meets regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Support the execution of capital projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Manage external resources, including contractors and vendors, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of packaging solutions.
  • Collaborate with other engineering functions, including Engineering, Operations, and Quality, to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Work closely with procurement and legal teams to ensure compliance with contracts, IP, and supplier agreements.
  • Work closely with internal plants, supply chain, and raw materials suppliers to ensure seamless packaging operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Packaging Engineering.
  • 2 years of experience in packaging or a related industry.
  • Experience with development and testing of PET containers and plastic packaging materials, as well as corrugate, paperboard, and films.
  • Experience with Design to Value (DTV) and CAD packaging software, such as SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD, Tops, and CAPE.
  • Experience with producing technical documents, including specifications, detailed drawings, and structural drawings, with a plus for GD&T.
  • Experience managing projects with outside vendors and/or contract manufacturers.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and MS Project.
  • Knowledge/understanding of manufacturing packaging equipment and statistical methods, including DOE and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Self-motivated, autonomous, and organized individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple projects, with up to 50% travel required.
  • Ability to lift product cases unassisted at plant trials and prepare pallets for testing (min 25lbs unassisted).
  • Ability to work on foot for extended periods during plant trials and startups.
  • Passion for sustainability, with a commitment to delivering on the package elements of our corporate sustainability programs.
